Online management education: the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano is the first in Italy to gain EOCCS certification for its Executive MBA digital learning courses.
This is an innovative and distinct system for evaluating standards in online courses conceived by EMFD, the most highly-respected accreditation body in Europe.

The School of Management of Politecnico di Milano is the first Italian business school to receive endorsement from the EOCCS (EFMD Online Course Certification) for the quality of its digital learning courses taught within its Executive MBA programmes. EOCCS is a distinctive system developed to assess standards in online courses, devised by EFMD (the European Foundation for Management Development), the most highly-regarded institute in Europe within the field of promoting and evaluating management education programmes.
Back in September, only 35 management courses, scattered among 11 European universities, had been given this seal of approval. This is a tiny fraction of the thousands of courses on offer.

These 35 excellent courses have now been joined by two distance learning courses for executives taught by the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano: the School’s course in Innovation Management within its International Flex EMBA, held wholly in English, and the School’s course in Supply Chain Management within its Flex EMBA, taught in Italian. The EOCCS system certifies individual courses, although the entire programme to which a course belongs is also thoroughly examined and assessed, as are the School’s support services.

The certification of Masters and digital learning courses is a highly topical subject for our customers, now that so many different courses are being offered online, and distinguishing among them is not easy. The seal of quality from international bodies such as the EMFD means that managers and executives can happily choose study paths where a large part of the lessons are taught online, in the clear knowledge that this greater flexibility (everybody deciding independently when, where and how to go online) is joined by methodological rigour, a high level of teaching and personalisation, together with the “dowry” of personal contacts typical of face-to-face courses.

“The School of Management of Politecnico di Milano is extremely proud of its EOCCS certification, the first awarded in Italy”,

said Andrea Sianesi, Dean of MIP Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business.

“We firmly believe that digital technology can totally change the way we approach the education, training and continuous development offered to managers and executives. We were the first to teach an EMBA in digital learning, our Flex EMBA, recognised by AMBA to be among the six most innovative EMBA courses in the world, because students acquire the same skills and make the same personal connections as if they were taking a traditional Master, while they also enjoy the benefits of the most advance technology. Online learning is now central to all of our Masters and courses, including those offered to companies. Receiving this EOCCS certification is a further acknowledgment for the School, coming closely on the heels of the Financial Times’s 2017 rankings, which listed the School among the best business schools in Europe for the ninth year in a row, and of the prestigious QR ranking, which placed us 20th in world for our international Master in Business Analytics and Big Data”.

The School of Management consists of the Department of Management Engineering and MIP, the business school of the Milan-based university.
